[The Cat and the Fish]

Refreshingly original

The artwork and animation is great. Nice use of blurring effects and whatnot to achieve an appealing depth and naturalism. But the best thing about this cartoon is the ending. Being an NG flash, I expected something a little more... expected (like the fish simply opening its mouth ridiculously wide and eating the cat, or the cat suddenly becoming vicious, etc). Nope. A fucking glob monster emerged and sucked the kitty in like a vacuum cleaner. Nobody would have predicted that lol. The dazed music was quite effective at that point too.

Definitely one of the more memorable movies I've seen here in a while. Keep it up!

That would stand to reason... I dont make things very often... Actually I work on one animation for a few months before I consider it to be submitted on NG... Thus making me not very well know on here... But most of my flashes are like this one... so if you enjoyed it...you should check out my others... All though I cant say they are any good... Allot of them I did when I was 1st learning... So you know... What can I say... Anyways... I'm so glad you enjoyed this one!!! Thanks for the 10!!!

the artwork and animation are amazing. the story seems like it could be good, although this episode was extremely chaotic and rushed. probably because its the first episode and just trying to get things going? but ya i like this a lot! tons of detail in every scene, it shows how much time and effort you put into making this cartoon.

Not bad.

The drawings of the characters were all right. Not the best, but not bad. A lot of the backgrounds were just horrid, though. Some of them consisted of only like 4 lines. Considering how you drew the people, I think you could have drawn some of the backgrounds better if you spent more time on them.

The animation wasn't very good. Many parts looked extremely unnatural, and other parts were just really weird looking. There were also a couple times when it seemed more like there were just a bunch of pictures of the guys alternating every second, or in other words, sometimes there really didn't seem to be any animating going on.

The sound was possibly the worst thing in the movie. It was like the same couple of 5 second songs starting and stopping over and over again, and that got VERY annoying after a while. Besides the music, there were just punch sounds and such. It wasn't bad, but it was nothing special either. Pretty basic.

I gave interactivity a 4 for the little menu at the beginning and the clickable stuff at the end. The menu, although you did a decent job on it, had a TON of grammar mistakes in the character bios. I suggest you take a look at them and try to fix them up a little. Some of it was actually a little hard to read. Another minor problem with the menu was how you had to click on the letters, rather than making a small area around the word clickable. 4 in interactivity also for the pause/play options during the movie. That was a nice feature to include.

Keep in mind that a 4 for interactivity isn't actually that bad, considering it's not a game.

Overall, the movie was okay. I can't truthfully say that I'm looking forward to the next one, but I'll take a look if I see it in the portal. Keep trying. You'll get better. =D

I'm knida still a new one when it comes to flash. I'm crap at animating, and I suppose drawing backgrounds in photoshop was a bad idea?

Yes, like I'm sure you'll hear from other reviewers, it would have been a lot better if it were longer. The animation wasn't bad, and the drawings were good.

It is a potentially good movie, and you should continue working on it. Spend a lot of time with it, and it could turn out to be a really nice animation. =)
