Hahaha I played the "Go Slug!" game and heard this song when the little guy didn't make it. :( How sad! Kinda made me laugh tho.

I've been listening to all your newer songs for the past half hour! You have a real talent for writing music bro, I love it. I get the most amazingly cinematic visions in my head when I hear your stuff. Getting anywhere in life with music is pretty unlikely, but I sincerely believe you have a chance. You should consider it if you haven't already! I want to see your creations performed by an actual orchestra someday.

As for this song... I love the piano part. It packs so much emotion and the strings fit in there with it perfectly. It would be cool to see what this song could do for a movie scene or a game thats not about a slug trying to get to its baby before the big random spiked wall comes down lol. Nice job on this one man. :)

You still looking for a good strings sample? You should get Edirol. Violins, violas, cellos. It lets you choose from different bowing techniques like tremelo or spiccato, which is pretty cool. You can also change the sound to fit a slower song or give it a warm feel. And Edirol is an entire orchestra, so you get lots of other samples too, each one customizable just like the strings. You should PM me if you're interested!

Keep up the good work!

BlazingDragon responds:

I got a kick out of "Go Slug!" The slug didn't make it for me, but it provided a good laugh. :P

What I really want to do is compose for either film or video games. I would love to go to college and get a degree in Music Theory and Composition! The only problem is that most musicians don't make it, and end up either teaching or working at McDonalds. I don't want to do either of those. It's really inspiring to hear that I may have a shot at it. So...I'm going to give it my best and try. :)

I was listening to this the other day and wondering why people seem to like it so much? It's very simple with nothing fancier than eighth-notes, and the chord progression isn't particularly original. Yet this is one of my best songs it seems. Weird. xD
Actually, someone asked me if they could use this on a flash they are making, and it looks pretty epic! I watched a sample of it with voice acting, and I'm excited. :O

I've heard great things about Edirol, but I believe it is fairly expensive. Anyway, thanks for the awesome review, man! I appreciate it. :D

I think you should get someone to do vocals, or do them yourself if you can. Without any singing its just background music! Its pretty good tho, nice work.

Lova-Gurl responds:

i don't do vocals... i can't sing or rap so someone else would have to do them

You just get a 10 for remaking my favorite song of all time.

It's pretty cool so far. Some delay on the clap might make it blend better with the other instruments, just a suggestion! It may not work but give it a try and see what it sounds like. Also, you should add some random effects throughout to give the song more depth and create a bit of an atmosphere. Like some fading buzzes or white noise type stuff, not sure how to explain, but hopefully you kinda get what I mean?

Good job! Get to work and finish this up!

SkatingIsGenetic responds:

Yeah I feel you!

I've never tried any random stuff so I'll see if I can pull it off!

Thanks for the feedback!

Your singing is fucking perfect man. You sound kind of like Basshunter (if you listen to his stuff at all).

I like the effects you put on the vocals, very coooool!

SkyMarshall responds:

Haha, "perfect" made me laugh - or it might be that hearing yourself sing never gets anything but strange. But things like what you just said gives me confidence to keep on singing. So thanks a lot man =)

What a solid song... This won't be easy to beat!

Very nice work!

Mrmilkcarton responds:

I can only hope for the best.

I love it!

Did you write this? I could swear I've heard that melody before lol

You should've recorded yourself singing for this song! :)

SkyMarshall responds:

Thanks man =) But NO, I forgot to write it in the comments over here - but this is one of the songs from the game Chrono Trigger - originally by Yasunori Mitsuda. Heavily altered though, but the essence of it is still there. Good catch lad. Appreciate the 10 =)

I've been browsing NG since 2001, finally got around to creating an account in 2005! After that, I pooped.
