You're probably the most underrated NG audio artist of all time. :(

Everything you make sounds amazing. But I miss the good ol' days of Yummy Muffin and Am I Cool Yet! This is your first submission of the year and it's almost December!

I need more Rig in my life

Rig responds:

i'm a big buttface who doesn't make music for a living anymore :(

Very nicely composed and great mixing! I'm trying to think of any sort of work this would be good for. All I can think of is maybe a menu screen or something. It's just too unique. It would take attention away from the movie/gameplay haha. Nice job with this!

Pretty cool! Good structure, well balanced mix, and excellent synths. I gotta say, though. The drums are very underwhelming. Especially the kick. I expect the beat to punch through HARD on songs like this. I'm no house music expert. Maybe this is common for the genre. If so, then I'm strictly speaking from my own personal taste.

Nice work! :)

Namice responds:

Thanks for the fast feedback!
I'm not a fan of loud kicks/basses :I

Awesome stuff! I think all three tracks are in need of additional mixing and some mastering to brighten them up and bring out some power in the synths, but I'm assuming you'd get to that when/if one of these gets close to being finished.

The first song caught my attention the most. Sounds somewhat inspired by Rogue or Au5 maybe? The kick and snare could use more layering and equalization to help them punch through more effectively. It's essentially a simple beat over some sidechained synths and bass - Not much to it, so I think it's important for the drums to really blow you away on a song that relies on so little. Nothing wrong with the simplicity, in my opinion.

I think you're onto something with these teasers. I wouldn't describe them as uncreative or horrible by any means. In fact, it's better than most of the stuff you find in the audio portal and it's pretty obvious just by listening to these WIP's that you have experience. Keep working and release these! :)

nuscuba responds:

oh thank you so much! i would have gotten to that stuff the more i work on them. rogue really is a big inspiration, his music is so cool. thanks a bunch for the advice, i really appreciate it!

Hey this is really good. Got a request to ask of you.

I own a small night club just outside of Cleveland, OH and have been looking for some good music to supplement into the usual playlist of pop and billboard top 100 tracks. I think the crowd would respond well to something like this.

It wouldn't feel right to use this song in such a way without your consent. Please let me know what you think. Also, it would be great if you could send me a bass boosted version. The people that visit my club have come to expect a certain quality of bass and I really want to make sure this thing booms the woofers if you know what I mean.

Thank you.

rubberonion responds:

Thanks for the comment! Also... If there's a club in Cleveland that exclusively plays 2hr long bass-boosted animation podcasts all night... I want to go to there.

Hey got a favor to ask. I've been looking for a song to play at my step dad's funeral for a while now and I think this may be the one. I understand you are the creator of this work, and it wouldn't feel right using it in such a way without your consent.

Please let me know. Fax me, page me, whatever is best for you. Thanks.

MuffinLad responds:

Absolutely. I PM'd you

Hey do you mind if I download this and listen to it every night while I brush my teeth? I just think the rhythm and tone of this piece is perfect for fighting tartar and the likes. It wouldn't feel right to use the song in such a way without your consent.

Please let me know. Write back, fax me, whatever ya want. Thanks.

ET16 responds:

Lmao yes you may this is the best comment ever! lol

A decade later this song still rocks hard.

I've been listening to this song every morning since its conception back in 2005. I pour a bowl of corn flakes, have a seat, and allow myself to be swept away by the sheer perfection that is "The Sweet Song". Really a benchmark in musical history. The use of a double low pass filter bypass sweep to brighten the vocals is executed perfectly. Very much ahead of its time. Sometimes my brain turns off while this song plays because of something my doctor calls "music overload". Basically it is the result of listening to four hours worth of awesomeness vacuum sealed into a 3 minute song. Some brains can't process the decibels quickly enough and a stage 5 coma ensues. I am usually fully conscious and aware during these comas, so I like to have the song on repeat so I have something to listen to while I wait for my mom to come visit and find me face down on the ground drowning in a puddle of my own saliva. It's a rough life, but it has to get done.

Anyways, Thank you for producing this.

Quarl responds:

Everyday for the last decade? Damn son, you is cray.

At first I was like whoa whoa whoa 2spooky4me but then the song progressed and I was like hey 4spooky2her. This is really good. I haven't heard any of your songs since like 2012. You're still cranking out crystal clear tracks (the definition of "cranking out" is 2 per year minimum). Your songs always sound like you mixed them with love - glad to see that hasn't changed :)

Looking forward to browsing through your stuff from the past 3-4 years!

Quarl responds:

aws, jebbal <3 <3

When I saw that the song was extended almost 3 full minutes I was a little scared that it wouldn't be able to maintain that same awesomeness all the way through. But whaddya know, nothing to fear here. The additions fit in flawlessly and actually make the song feel more developed and full. 6:06 until the end was absolutely beautiful. What an ending! I had goosebumps the entire time haha. I would give anything to see a full length movie scored by you with this song as the basis. I can only imagine how epic it would be. Become the next Hans Zimmer, okay?

By the way, I like the change you made at 5:38. The strings have more of a sweeping quality to them now. It's satisfying, I like it :)

I'm starting to detect that my family is getting sick of this song, but they'll just have to get used to it until I decide to stop listening to it several times a day haha. Hell, I even added it to my workout playlist this morning. Nothing like great orchestration to help get you through a long run!

Welp, thank you for creating such a masterpiece and sharing it with all of us here on NG for free. I honestly can't wait for your next submission.

NickPerrin responds:

Thank you so much, for this review and your input about the strings in PMs. It definitely helped!

This review is actually really meaningful to me. And it's funny, I do the same thing with music during a workout if I really like it, even if it isn't very workout-y music! Making it more developed and full was exactly the point... plus I didn't have to feel like I was wasting one of the themes that originally only got used once!

More than anything, I'm glad that you enjoy it, and didn't have to pay anything to listen to it either. As for my next submission, I've been toiling on this piece for a long time and will probably be taking a very contrasting break from orchestral music - but it won't be many tracks later that I'll want to get back to the symphonic flavour!

Cheers!

I've been browsing NG since 2001, finally got around to creating an account in 2005! After that, I pooped.
